![]() I was more refering to the design philosophy of the game: in Dwarf Fortress most things happen for a reason, and you can sort of track it with Legenda mode. Sending your own caravans to trade or settle a new site for example. Oh, of course there are things Rimworld does that I would want in DF. The solution is to dig, dig, and dig, you can never dig too deep! What do dwarves do? They dig for treasure, and they turn that treasure into better treasure. N☁ is easy to solve, just wait, N☂ is not easily solved unless you abandon that fort and embark in another one and N☃ well, you are playing Dwarf Fortress. Why would anybody go to a poor town with a population of 10 or so people? If there's nothing to do and nothing to steal nobody is interested in it, so no attacks and no migrants. You'll still get monsters attacking though.ģ. This could be an island, since there's no water travel (yet) in the game, or an area of the map too far away from any civilization. Once the autumn caravan leaves, word will start to spread out.Ģ. In the first year nobody is going to attack your site because nobody knows somebody is settling that part of the until then wilderness. If you think "nothing is happening" in DF there are a couple of reasons that might be:ġ. In DF stuff happens for a reason, while in Rimworld stuff happens because the game decided it has been too long since something happened. The game is way better the more you dig into the same world for a while.ĭwarf Fortress is like Rimworld only in that Rimworld copied some of the mechanics from DF. ![]() It's interesting to dig around with it and keep tabs of where some good stuff is for later embarks. The game will get a lot more interesting with adventure mode. Ive had classic embarks that didn't last more than a couple months before my dwarves were all slaughtered. There are places where you can embark that are far beyond my abilities to manage, but it's kinda fun to try embarking with a specific goal in mind at a terrifying or haunted location with a bunch of warring civilizations around just to see how fast things can go to shit. I purposefully went as deep as I could in an attempt to break through to the good stuff and it did not disappoint.ĭF is one of those games that is as easy or difficult as you want it to be, no matter the world. I managed to find me a nice huge cavern layer at around level -100 once that immediately had a cave dragon in it that started rampaging through my fort on my first steam release fort. The lower you go, the more FUN they tend to get. I generally tend to find the first one around level 24.
